I shall try. The perfumer on the left is Francis Kurkdjian. The perfumer on the right is Richard Herpin.

My eyes keep getting drawn to the ties. I find it interesting that everyone seems to know what Richard Herpin looks like. Thierry Wasser’s picture is on boisdejasmin.typepad.com but I couldn’t find any pictures of Mr. Herpin. These picture quizzes are fun but I never have a clue! Look forward to more.

Hmmm… the ties… that’s a good point.
IFF perfumers can make statements with their hair (red mohican won’t be a problem at IFF) or anything, but Firmenich perfumers need to dress in suits and ties. Quite a difference, huh? But I don’t know if this has anything to do with the fierce competition between the two houses.

Kuri, what an interesting observation! I have never met Richard Herpin, and I have never seen his photos, however I do know what Harry Fremont and Olivier Polge look like. So, I operated by the method of deduction. As for Thierry Wasser, there is no excuse for me confusing him with Francis Kurkdjian.

Ooh, didn’t even think about the different companies. Quite a difference! Wonder if they allow football at Firmenich?
Victoria, I don’t know what Harry Fremont looks like either, so it was all a toss up for me! Hrm… I may have been very confused about where I found Wasser’s photo; I did find it just now at s-perfume.com ; I’m sorry about that! I have so few sources that it’s sad that I’m mixing them up. Now I wonder what Francis Kurkdjian looks like

Kuri-san, I don’t have a good picture of Harry to show, but here’s Francis Kurkdjian.

I’m kind of happy that Takasago (they have been strong in toiletries) has finally gotten a hot shot perfumer in fine fragrances but wonder how long he would stay with them. It’s not easy to work with Japanese, and probably you know that, right?

Thanks for the picture!
I hope he will like Takasago. A lot seems to be determined by the company culture. I think I like the fact that a lot of communication seems to be non-verbal, because I’m bad at verbal communication. But it all depends on the people you work with; everyone’s different.
I wonder what language they work in.
