I am going to make a stab (hahahahaha) at this and say it’s The Name Of The Rose from 1986. I read the book when it first came out, so my main reason for guessing this is its thematic similarity to The Da Vinci Code – which I have NOT read, but thanks to all the press the film received, I never have to.

I’m going to guess “The Lord of the Rings” for sheer box office power, and no other evidence. I wanted to guess The X-Men:2 as Alan Cumming has a perfume, but CB didn’t come from IFF. And I can’t find any perfumes for Amelie or Venus Beauty Institute. Agh!! this question is killing me.
