I am a sculptor.
My first career break came right after I had graduated from Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music. I was commissioned to design the interior of a new building by Tadao Ando in Shinsaibashi, Osaka. » related post
In 1987, I met Leo Castelli during his stay in Tokyo. Castelli encouraged me to pursue my career in New York City. I was naive - and moved to New York the following year.
My last commission was sculptures for the historic Battery Park which didn’t complete since I have lost interest in public art after the 9/11.
I changed my artist name several times - much to the distress of my gallery.
I like things that cannot be explained… like, why am I selling perfumes when I hardly have interest in business or perfumes? Or, why did I fell in love with boxing when I hated violence?
I have worked in Brooklyn, New York for about 20 years. It’s getting too long… I will probably move to Los Angeles in the next few years.
I feel like I have a demon in my head these days.

Hey,
Are you still shaping? I’m looking to set up a studio in red hook or close by. Wondering if you might be interested.
Best,
