HOUSE ON A DUNE, Harbour Island

Designed to intrinsically connect with the lush island nature and surroundings, this beach house by architect Chad Oppenheim, is nestled on the dunes adjacent to the pristine shores of Harbour Island in the Bahamas. The 3,000 square foot private residence is an exercise in minimalism with an elegant touch. The simplistic and natural form adopts ecologically, sensitive materials and methodologies to create a livable and environmentally conscious scheme. Mainly constructed with concrete, recycled cedar, reused ipe, and milk paint, the technological details, fixtures and air-conditioning have been hidden to allow seamless surfaces throughout.
