2001 revives house in Bandoubashi, an abandoned property in Japan
2001 —a Tokyo based architecture studio—has taken on a renovation project of a house for rent in Yokohama, Japan. The 50-year-old wooden structure was left in ruins; the roofs had collapsed, exterior walls were broken, floors and ceilings were in poor conditions. In such circumstances, animals and plants started invading every corner. Even though the space was full of wilderness, 2001 still saw beauty and potential for renovation– the project was eventually known as the House in Bandoubashi.
